Wine & Spirits Importer Receives Recognition as it Celebrates 40 Years as a Family-Run Company 

STAMFORD, Conn – Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits has been named a 2021 Top Workplace in Connecticut by Hearst Media. The family-owned wine and spirits importer and marketer is on the lists Top 10 and is one of only 56 Connecticut-based companies included. This prestigious recognition for Deutsch Family comes as the company celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Deutsch Family was founded in 1981 by Chairman Bill Deutsch.  Initially called W.J. Deutsch & Sons Ltd, the company began with a goal of marketing quality wines produced by prestigious families from major wine regions of the world. In 2009, after years of established success within the wine industry, Deutsch announced the expansion of its award-winning brand lineup to include a spirits portfolio. Since then, the company has continued to build a reputation for its brand-building prowess and ability to meet the needs of the modern consumer marketing and selling a highly awarded portfolio of beloved wines and spirits, including [ yellow tail ], Josh Cellars, The Calling, Redemption Whiskey and Gray Whale Gin, to name just a few. Today, under the leadership of Bill’s son Peter Deutsch as company CEO, and Tom Steffanci, President, Deutsch Family remains a family-owned company headquartered in Stamford, employing 350 people.

The Top Workplace recognition is awarded based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey. Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits employees were prompted with questions related to aspects of workplace culture and fulfillment. They were then asked to rate their satisfaction level and provide input. The results from Deutsch Family’s internal survey were overwhelmingly positive, with employees ranking satisfaction with compensation, empowerment, growth opportunities, and a close-knit family culture as top reasons why they enjoy working for the company. Employees also pointed towards the company’s enduring commitment to training and education a key reason they are happy in their current roles.
