The 2014 Chardonnay Jewell Vineyard gives notes of white grapefruit, lemon zest and yuzu with touches of chalk dust, white pepper and lightly browned toast. Medium to full-bodied, it has a wonderful intensity of citrus flavors in the mouth with great tension and persistent mineral and toast notes on the finish. – LPB

The Calling 2014 Sullivan Chardonnay – 94+ POINTS

The 2014 Chardonnay Sullivan Vineyard is scented of spicy oak, baked peaches and dried pineapple with wafts of ginger, croissant and honeycomb. Medium to full bodied with a seductively oily texture, it fills the mouth with generous honeyed-peach, tropical fruit and toasty oak flavor, finishing long and spicy. It is delicious now for those that love a little oak expression, otherwise that oak should marry in a year or so, revealing more of an opulent fruit expression. – LPB

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir Sunny View is scented of black raspberries, mulberries and red plums with hints of spice box, licorice and dusty earth. Medium-bodied, it delivers a great concentration of berry preserves flavors with chewy tannins and refreshing acidity to support, finishing long and spicy. – LPB

The Calling 2014 Patriarch Pinot Noir – 90 POINTS

Pale to medium ruby-purple, the 2014 Pinot Noir Patriarch has pretty potpourri, underbrush and dried Provence herb scents with a good core of red currant jelly and raspberry tart. Medium to full-bodied, it delivers plenty of chewy tannins and red berry preserves flavors with just enough freshness and a spicy finish. – LPB

Low-Lux Wines Draw in Millennial Consumers

Easter may be best known for its association with eggs, but it’s also the third-biggest wine holiday on the calendar, trailing only Thanksgiving and Christmas. Tom Steffanci, president of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, said the industry will be closely watching Millennial tastes this Easter season, now that the generation accounts for slightly over 40% of all wine consumed in the U.S., including low-lux wines.
